Selling your home is a stressful time. Agents and strangers poke around on tours and open houses and all the while you, your kids, and your pets, need to be scarce if not gone. So, what is one to do in Chicago with an entire Sunday afternoon or an hour at a moment’s notice?

Sometimes you may choose to use the time to go for a walk or run some errands, but that might not be feasible every time. To be prepared with something to do at a moment’s notice create a calendar of events prior to listing your home.

You can start by listing all the places you and your family like to visit. Then search through websites such as Explore Chicago and Choose Chicago to find special events that don’t occur everyday, such as the boat show this weekend. Mark down events on a special calendar for the months during which your home will be listed. Then, whenever you have a showing or an open house you can grab the calendar, kids, and, if appropriate, pets and leave your stress behind as you go enjoy the activity marked on the calendar for that day!
