Most people know the importance of staging a home in preparation for sale. The first step in staging is decluttering, which often includes storing items that you don’t need whether they are decorative, out of season clothes, or books. The tough part is knowing what to store and what to keep. Without knowing how long it will be before you can move how can you predict what you will need in the meantime?

If you have at least a month before you list your property you can start a list of what you use. Each day mark down what books your reference, appliances you use, and accessories you wear. In the meantime start packing the items you are sure you can store. By the end of the month your home will be less cluttered and you won’t feel like you packed away more than you should have.
